Functional resumes are great for people who are lacking work experience and  job seekers who have large gaps in work history. A functional resume highlights your relevant qualifications, skills, education, experiences and accomplishments, but puts little emphasis on job history. Functional resumes  are good for people that fall under the following categories:

  • Job Searchers who don't have a clear career path

  • A person with little experience in the career field that they are looking to enter

  • Career Changers

  •  Job Seekers with gaps in their work history

You need to be careful when utilizing a functional resume format because not all employers like functional resumes. The reason being is they feel with a functional resume it is sometimes difficult to match up your skills with previous positions. You can avoid this objection to a functional resume by including the company with the accomplishment.
