A combination hybrid resume format is great if you have performed almost exactly the same duties at all the organizations that you have worked at. Listing the same exact duties under each employer in a chronological resume format would be redundant. A combination hybrid resume format is also a good choice if you are trying to make a career change for the reason that you are highlighting your relevant skills and not the companies you have worked for.

  • Summarize your relevant skills up front, just like what you do in a functional resume format.

  • If your education is a strong asset, place it at the top of your resume. If it is not place it after work history.

  • Remember to list your employers in reverse chronological order (list your most recent employer first). Include only relevant duties that relate to the position you are applying to.

I can not emphasize enough how great a combination hybrid resume is for career changers with a solid work history. By using the combination hybrid resume format you are able to show off your relevant skills but also high light your solid work history.
